What Does A Mortgage Broker Do?
Anna Andrews introduces the company and talks us through the role of a mortgage broker.
Facts and figures quoted in this podcast were correct at time of recording.
What does a mortgage broker do?
A mortgage broker can help you navigate through every stage of finding and applying for a mortgage, to get the most suitable deal for your individual circumstances. We search the market to find deals that match your criteria.
What’s the difference between going to a mortgage broker versus a local high street lender?
It’s much more convenient to work with a broker, and we have a good working knowledge of current finance and mortgage markets due to our experience and contacts. We can search hundreds of lenders to find the most suitable deal to suit your situation and plans.
The mortgage industry can be confusing. Things change rapidly as interest rates fluctuate, and so having an expert who can explain things clearly – and understand best practice – can be invaluable.
What services does a mortgage broker offer?
We keep clients up to date with the process of their mortgage. We liaise with the estate agents and the solicitors, we get you an Agreement in Principle or Decision in Principle, which is a crucial part of the process for First Time Buyers and home movers.
We do remortgages and Buy to Let, not forgetting – most importantly – mortgage protection.
When should I see a mortgage broker? At what stage in the process?
It’s important to see a mortgage broker at the start of your mortgage journey. That’s the case whether it’s a first purchase or a remortgage.
A broker will get to know you and go through your finances to find out how much is affordable and what a lender will actually offer you. Then you can start your property search with a budget in mind.
When was Aitana Financial Services founded, and how long have you been in the industry?
Aitana Financial Services was established in 1993, and today we cover the whole of the country, focusing on giving the best advice for your mortgage circumstances and ensuring you have the right mortgage protection to meet your needs. We really pride ourselves on the quality of our advice, and it’s the reason we’ve grown through recommendations from happy clients.
I’ve been in the industry since 2017 and I joined Aitana in January 2019. What I’ve learned is that every case is different. We treat everyone as an individual and find the right approach case by case.
Does it cost for an initial consultation with you at Aitana Financial Services?
Some brokers charge a fee for their advice, but I don’t. I am paid through the lender that I arrange the mortgage with. But, rest assured, you will always receive five star service. Ultimately, I would like you to recommend me to your family, friends and colleagues.
Think carefully before securing other debts against your home. Your home may be repossessed if you do not keep up with your mortgage repayments.
You may have to pay an early repayment charge to your existing lender if you remortgage.
